Re: Sony RAW file viewer MAC

Highlight whatsoever .ARW file and press Command+I to open the Get Info window. You should see a section chosen "Open up With". Change that to Preview.

Something inverse after the A7ii Firmware update a few months agone (Uncompressed RAW support) and Apple hasn't updated the A7ii CameraRaw profile yet. I think information technology works in El Capitan...

The newest version of MAC?  What does that mean?  New computer?  Or do you hateful new Os X (El Capitan beingness the latest ten.eleven.3)?

Raw files in Os Ten is handled as a function of the OS and if you have non kept up with the updates, you may demand to only bring your Mac up to date.

The other is to brand sure you have sufficient RAM or it volition really bog downwardly while the OS is generating previews images for the file.

The other question is "...on a divide drive"  What does that mean?  Are you just saying that the Os is  installed in an internal drive and your files are on an external drive?

As for sorting your files, I have a7Rii and the files are either 42Mb or 84Mb (compressed or uncompressed) and using the Os viewer, like suggested by a post is not an selection for me.  It is just too wearisome to become from one file to another.

Having used ViewNX with NEF files, I go that yous want to get through the images apace and get rid of not-keepers and even rename them.  What sw are you lot using to process the raw files?  If you are using C1 or LR, then you can simply do that once imported into the file management portion of either of the sw.  You can use Photograph app as well for like purposes.

That said, I use IJFR (Instant JPEG From Raw, just google ijfr and you discover it) to extract embedded jpeg from raw files and use the Bone previews to rapidly get through and ID keepers.  I don't bother to rename files.

Raw files in Os Ten is handled as a part of the OS and if you accept not kept up with the updates, you may need to simply bring your Mac upwards to date.

That's your issue.

The uncompressed raw is only supported in 10.ten Yosemite but not 10.viii if you've done Os updates.

Perhaps you lot're booting up from x.eight and not 10.10.

Endeavour holding Pick key when booting up and brand sure you select SSD with 10.10 on information technology.

I don't know if the Mac Mini supports 10.x though.... Apple is picky about which hw runs which sw.

IMHO, I believe you should update your OS. I of my machines is a three or 4 twelvemonth old mac mini. It works just fine. I believe its a free update. For security and everything else its probably a proficient thought... once again just mho.

Agreed.

I am running 10.x.five Yosemite with all the updates, and I can NOT view A7ii ARW (compressed format) files directly in the Finder. I believe the upshot is that I shoot RAW simply. No JPEG. So there is no JPEG preview for the Finder to utilise. Files open up and display correctly in Photoshop and LR CC.

This only started happening after the last A7ii Firmware update.

Agreed.

I am running 10.10.5 Yosemite with all the updates, and I tin can NOT view A7ii ARW (compressed format) files directly in the Finder. I believe the issue is that I shoot RAW simply. No JPEG. Something else must exist missing. I tin view them as well as A7RII files, just I also have El Capitan.
